Feijóo avoids talking about a motion of censure, but he will be "very attentive" to whether there are movements and "courage" in the PSOE

In the presentation of a book by Barreiro Rivas about his career, he calls Sánchez "the most authoritarian president of democracy"

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, Dec. 9 (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has not spoken this Friday directly about the motion of censure that both Vox and Ciudadanos demand that he present against the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, after the reforms proposed in the Criminal Code and in the Council General of the Judiciary, but he has made it clear that the popular will be "very attentive to if there is any movement" or act of "courage" in the socialist ranks.

And it is that, while the Executive of PSOE and Unidas Podemos "preserves the parliamentary majority" together with its partners, the head of the opposition advocates for now "defending the State and the Constitution" through the appeals of unconstitutionality and asking " protection" to the European Union. In addition, he has once again promised that he will reverse all these reforms if he reaches La Moncloa.

This has been done in an act in Santiago de Compostela for the presentation of the book 'About Feijóo', written by the political scientist and former vice-president of the Xunta Xosé Luis Barreiro Rivas and which addresses his political career. The prologue of this work is carried out by the current head of the Galician Government, Alfonso Rueda.

The leader of the PP has delivered a devastating speech hours after both Vox and Ciudadanos -to which the popular deputy Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo has joined- demanded that he step forward and present a motion of no confidence in the reforms of the Criminal Code that are processed in Congress, including the repeal of the crime of sedition, and the reductions of the majorities required in the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) to elect the magistrates of the Constitutional Court.

Although he has not made a direct allusion to whether he is going to agree to do something that he has already rejected on previous occasions, the president of the PP has insisted that he will observe the ranks of the PSOE.

"Today sharing the acronym with Sánchez must be very painful for any socialist who has even the least amount of appreciation for his country. Furthermore, if this socialist really speaks, he could end up like Joaquín Leguina, expelled from the party. I wish they had the courage to take away his parliamentary majority, which is not, today, consistent with the social majority of our country", he asserted.

All this because, in his opinion, the legal reforms proposed in recent weeks make Sánchez, "without ambiguity or half measures", the "most authoritarian president of Spanish democracy."

Feijóo has charged against a government that came to fight corruption while now "gives wings" to corruption and puts "red carpets" on politicians from the 'procés' convicted of sedition, to which he has added proposals to reduce sentences for embezzlement of public funds --when there is no personal gain-- and the "change of the rules of the game" of the Judiciary and the TC.

After affirming that Spain has neither "the Government" nor "the policy it deserves", he has acknowledged that he was never "as concerned about the future of Spain as he is now". "Neither the economic situation is acceptable, nor is the social situation good, (...) nor do I need to tell you that the political situation is nothing more than lamentable," he explained.

Feijóo has charged against that "minority that is imposing its criteria and ideology on that of the majority of Spaniards" and that seeks to "fracture the unity of the nation."

"There are no limits, each historical scandal is surpassed by another major historical scandal," he argued, to later mention controversies such as the deaths on the Melilla fence, the "legal botch" of the "only yes is yes" law and the appointment of "its ministers and high positions in State institutions".

"And they believe that all this will be covered up with the following, and of course by disqualifying Feijóo. But they do not cover anything, they are left exposed as a government that, instead of solving problems, creates them," insisted the president of the PP.

Faced with this Executive that "is not useful to Spain and that requires a majority" that is "honest", the opposition leader has guaranteed that he will not "disengage" from this situation.

For this reason, as he announced this Friday on his Twitter account, he will request "protection" from the EU to protect the "independence" of the judges, he will bring the reforms to the Constitutional Code and will once again include in the Penal Code "all the barriers that the State has been given to protect itself from fracture approaches".

Feijóo has also issued the warning that "the lie takes its toll" at the polls, while he has been convinced that "if this Sunday were the elections", there would be "a political change" in Spain, as all have pointed out. the surveys "minus the CIS", has added.

The analysis of political news has filled most of the speech of the now leader of the PP in the presentation of a book on his political career and leadership. Feijóo himself, almost at the start of his speech, has denied the headlines that affirm that he is not comfortable in Madrid politics.

In fact, he recalled that they are "exactly the same headlines" that he heard "back in 1996", when he was president of Insalud before returning to Galicia as Minister of Manuel Fraga, in 2003, and as his first vice president, already in 2004.

"Those who are not comfortable with Feijóo in Galicia and in Madrid are the same, but 600 kilometers away," he has settled.

For his part, Alfonso Rueda, as the author of the prologue to Barreiro Rivas's book, praised the "humility" of his party leader and guaranteed that "he still has a long way to go" to go "down in history" as president of the Government of Spain.

In addition, the current head of the Xunta has taken the opportunity to charge against "all those ministers" who visit Galicia to "tell lies" about the Galician Government and about Feijóo, who instead is "the antithesis of Pedro Sánchez".

"That they do not come to tell us from outside what Alberto is like," he snapped at them, to then praise his management at the head of the Community that he presided over for 13 years.

Professor Barreiro Rivas, who was vice president of the Xunta in the 1980s, has praised Feijóo for his leadership "built slowly, without pause and climbing all the stairs that have to be climbed to get to La Moncloa." "Only the last one is missing", he has sentenced, with which he has started the loud applause of all those present.

Barreiro Rivas explained that 'About Feijóo', written "in four months", was born at a difficult time "because the context is changing".

Not surprisingly, the political scientist has pointed out that the current investiture bloc is a group of parties that "do not share ideology" or "country", but rather "only agree on the need for power." And against it, he has said, the leader of the PP fights "from an unequal position."

The person in charge of opening the act has been the person in charge of Ediciones Nobel, Ana de la Calle, who has encouraged all citizens, especially Galicians, to read this publication that includes "how leadership is built" like that of Feijóo, that "among other things he has to his credit four consecutive absolute majorities" in Galicia.

He stressed that the book, which includes "not a biography" of Os Peares, but "an outline of his career", has an author "of the category" of Professor Barreiro Rivas, "a great connoisseur of the ins and outs of politics Galician and Spanish".
