Feijóo asks his 'barons' at a lunch in Genoa not to trust the polls and visualize the alternative on the street

The leader of the PP informs them that the political course will start in Cotobade and that they prepare for a tough campaign on the part of Sánchez

MADRID, 26 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has asked his territorial 'barons' on Tuesday at a relaxed and informal lunch that they should not trust the polls but must continue working and visualize the alternative to the Government of Pedro Sánchez on the street , according to sources from the party have informed Europa Press.

Like other times, at the end of the meeting of the National Executive Committee of the PP, Feijóo has gathered the regional and regional presidents of the party at a meal, although on this occasion, there have been more absences than in previous ones. The Andalusian Juanma Moreno has not been able to attend because he was chairing the first meeting of his Governing Council in Seville.

For his part, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco has not attended either because he has traveled to the Arlanza region to find out the status of the fire that has affected this part of the province of Burgos since Sunday. The president of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the president of the Catalan PP, Alejandro Fernández, the president of the Balearic PP, Marga Prohens, and the president of the Canary Islands PP, Manuel Domínguez, have also been dismissed.

During lunch, in a relaxed, relaxed and "good vibes" atmosphere, in the words of some of those present, Feijóo repeated many of the messages that he had already exposed publicly to the National Executive Committee -whose intervention was open to the media--, such as the assessment of the ruling of the ERE that affects the former presidents of the PSOE Manuel Chaves and José Antonio Griñán.

Several of the presidents of the PP have agreed at lunch to highlight the elegance with which Feijóo has referred to this matter, unlike the use that the PSOE made with Gürtel, according to training sources.

However, the new socialist spokesperson and Minister of Education, Pilar Alegría, has asked the leader of the PP for "modesty" and has reminded him that his headquarters on Génova Street "is paid for with illegal financing", shortly after Feijóo assured that after the sentence of the Supreme by the ERE to the PSOE it is called on to "make decisions" and "purify responsibilities". From 'Genoa' they have reproached the head of Education for dedicating herself to "attacking" the PP instead of "apologizing" for the ERE.

Feijóo and the 'barons' of the PP have agreed that Sánchez is "nervous" and have predicted a harsh campaign against the Popular Party at the turn of the summer, with an eye on the regional and municipal elections in May, to overcome a Government that is "broken to shreds".

"Sánchez is wounded like a wild boar and will try to go after us", one of the presidents of the PP present at the meeting assured Europa Press, who stressed that this is one of the issues that Feijóo has commented on both openly and to closed.

Thus, in his speech before the Executive Committee, Feijóo has predicted that Sánchez will raise "the tone" and dedicate the final stretch of the legislature to "using all the resources of the State" to "stop change." However, he has ruled that it is "impossible" for the chief executive to recover "the lost initiative" given that Spain "no longer listens to him" because "he no longer believes him".

In any case, already at lunch and internally, Feijóo has warned his 'barons' that although they have the polls in their favour, they should not be trusted or trusted but they have to continue working and go out into the streets, supporting the mayors, have indicated the sources consulted.

In this sense, and although a summer rest period is now opening, Feijóo and the 'barons' agree that we must take advantage of the village festivals to be with the people and visualize that the PP is the alternative" and represents another way of doing politics, add the same sources.

Feijóo has transferred that he will also have some acts this summer and that the course will open on August 27 in Cotobade (Pontevedra), as Mariano Rajoy and Pablo Casado did last year.

Before lunch -in which they tasted ham, cheese, tomato salad and sirloin steak-, Feijóo held the meeting of the National Executive Committee, where the former Foreign Minister, José Manuel García Margallo, and the presidents of the PP in Murcia and Extremadura, Fernando López Miras and María Guardiola.

López Miras and Guardiola have focused their interventions on thanking the trust that has been placed in them after being elected presidents in their region, according to PP sources consulted by Europa Press. In the case of the second, he made his debut on Tuesday in the Executive Committee after his election a week ago at the head of the Extremaduran PP, replacing José Antonio Monago.
