Farmers and ranchers will receive up to 3,386 million in direct aid from the PAC as of October 16

MADRID, 4 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Spanish farmers and ranchers will receive up to 3,386 million euros in advance payments from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for the 2022 campaign as of October 16, after the publication this Thursday in the Official Journal of the European Union (DOUE) of the regulation that authorizes the increase in the advance of these payments up to 70% in direct aid and up to 85% in rural development measures.

Specifically, in Spain this authorization will allow an advance of direct aid of up to 3,386 million euros to the 648,691 farmers and ranchers who have submitted their single application for aid for this campaign. The amounts finally paid will depend on the payment schedule established by each autonomous community.

This increase with respect to the 50% established by community regulations responds to the request made by Spain and other Member States to provide more liquidity to farms and help farmers and ranchers to alleviate the adverse effects of the war in Ukraine.

Recently, the European Commission has also published a regulation that makes it possible to relax certain control measures for applications for CAP aid due to the pandemic, as was the case in the previous 2020 and 2021 campaigns.

This regulation establishes the possibility of reducing some control samples, as well as the option of substituting field visits and classic controls for the use of photo interpretation of satellite images or orthophotos, and for the use of new technologies such as geotagged photos.

Agriculture has specified that this initiative will make it easier for the controls in 2022 to be carried out as soon as possible so that payments are not delayed.
