El Shin Bet dismantles a possible Islamic State cell in Nazaret

MADRID, 2 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Israel's Intelligence and Internal Security services, the Shin Bet, announced this Sunday the arrest, over the last few weeks, of six Arab-Israeli men for their alleged affiliation with the Islamic State jihadist organization who intended to commit an attack in the city of Nazareth.

According to the Shin Bet, the men, all from this town in northern Israel, had plans to attack a Muslim school in the Arab-majority city because "it was acting in the way of the 'infidels'."

The group also planned to attack a busy bus stop in northern Israel, a police station and a forest frequented by Jews, among other areas.

"The suspects studied Islamic State content on the Internet and ended up deeply identifying with the precepts of the jihadist group," reports the 'Times of Israel', which identifies the suspects as Muhammad Ihab Suleiman, 25, Jafar Suleiman, 21, Muamen Nijam, 20, Ahmed Belal Suleiman, 18, Jihad Bakr, 20, and a minor whose name cannot be published.

They will all be charged with the crime of terrorism, the Shin Bet statement added.
