Discounts and free subscriptions arrive this Thursday to public transport

Intended for frequent flyers

MADRID, 1 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The discounts and free subscriptions approved by the Government for all public transport in the country will begin to be applied this Thursday, September 1, with the aim of softening the impact that inflation is having on citizens.

Specifically, regular travelers of the conventional Cercanías and Media Distancia services will travel for free, while frequent users of the Avant and some AVE services will have a 50% discount, to which is added the minimum discount of 30% in the subscriptions and multi-trip tickets for each city, which the communities have been able to increase to 50%.

For the first case, customers will have to purchase the new subscription that Renfe has created specifically to apply this measure until December 31. A deposit of 10 euros will be charged for Cercanías and 20 euros for Media Distancia, which will be returned as long as at least 16 trips are made.

In the Cercanías the subscription will be valid for the entire network that makes up each nucleus, so traveling more than 16 times in these four months, it will be completely free. In the case of the Medium Distance, the subscription will have an origin and a destination set by the traveler, so it will be necessary to travel 16 times between these two stations to be free, always a single person.

In this way, the gratuity has been limited to frequent travelers who work or study and not to any citizen who sporadically takes a train for other reasons, who will continue to pay the rate currently in force or the 20 euros deposit if it is cheaper to take the subscription even for less than 16 trips.

As for the Avant, which are Medium Distance but High Speed, a 50% discount will be applied to the current subscriptions that are already on the market. A new subscription has also been created for certain AVE of less than 100 minutes, mainly in Castilla y León, with a 50% discount.

Only the AVE routes between Madrid-Palencia, Madrid-Zamora, León Valladolid, Burgos-Madrid, León-Palencia, Burgos-Valladolid, Ourense-Zamora, Palencia-Valladolid, Huesca-Zaragoza, León-Segovia, Segovia-Zamora, Palencia -Segovia and Medina del Campo-Zamora will have this discount, only in Castilla y León, Aragón and Madrid.

The Government also approved a generalized 30% discount on monthly subscriptions (which includes the metro, buses, trains and other means of transport) and multi-trip tickets for each city or region, with the possibility of expanding it to 50% at the choice of each community. autonomous.

Finally, on long-distance buses, a 50% discount will also be applied, but only on multi-trip tickets for more than two trips, so normal round-trip tickets are excluded.
