Defense sends more than a ton of food to the most disadvantaged in Djibouti

MADRID, 20 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Defense has sent this Monday, from the Torrejón Air Base, an Air and Space Army plane with more than a ton of food supplied by the Air Force and the Navy to Djibouti, "one of the most punished areas on the planet ".

Once the plane has unloaded this food in Djibouti, it will be the non-profit association 'Estela de Ayo' who will be in charge of distributing it among the most disadvantaged people in this country, located in the Horn of Africa, according to picked up the Ministry in a statement.

Likewise, during the coming weeks, the transport of various school and health supplies to Djibouti, which has been compiled by the aforementioned Association, is also planned.

As for 'Estela de Ayo', it is a charity project promoted by Paula Maldonado, wife of Air Force Commander Eduardo Fermín Garvalena Crespo.

The commander died last February 2020, when the aircraft he was piloting plunged into the sea in the vicinity of La Manga del Mar Menor during one of the Eagle Patrol's scheduled rehearsals.

This Association aims to continue the legacy of solidarity with the most disadvantaged communities started by Commander Garvalena during the missions in which he participated.
