Díaz responds to Robles that the increase in military spending that he plans does not benefit Navantia Ferrol and goes for new weapons

He demands his partner address the matter with respect because the increase in the game goes mainly to acquire new weapons

The second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, has responded to the Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, that the increase in military spending planned by the PSOE, and which has been quantified at 1,000 million euros through an extraordinary credit that will be taken to the Council of Ministers , has no repercussion on Navantia's activity in Ferrol but mostly goes to the acquisition of new weapons and troop protection services.

In this way, he has demanded that his coalition partner address a debate on matters related to Defense in a "serene" manner, with "respect" for the allies and, above all, taking into account "reality" about the impact of the increase of the military party that is being considered.

This was indicated in statements to the media after attending the presentation of the monographic issue of the magazine 'Temas' for the debate on 'Participatory Socialism: around the concept of Thomas Piketty', together with the head of the Treasury, María Jesús Montero, and the president of the Center for Sociological Research, José Félix Tezanos.

In this way, he alluded to the demonstrations by Robles who this morning responded to criticism from the head of Social Rights, Ione Belarra, for the increase in defense spending and asked her to ask Diaz herself, to see if she says in Ferrol to stop building the frigates there, as well as the extraordinary credit that will be taken to the Council of Ministers for an amount of 1,000 million euros by the socialist wing

Meanwhile, the also Minister of Labor Yolanda Díaz has reaffirmed respect for the option of increasing military spending that her position is "very clear" and "well-known", when in March she already showed that she was not in favor and made explicit her commitment to prioritizing investment in health, education and research.

"The agreement to raise a further billion euros for Defense has nothing to do, and I'm sorry, with the workload (of Navantia) for my region of Ferrol, or Cádiz, and I'm sorry," he said. underlined diaz

In fact, he has specified that this increase in credit to the military area proposed by the PSOE goes for two concepts, which is for ordinary activity and completely unrelated to Navantia and about 650 million in armament for the Spanish troops.

Questioned about whether this increase of 1,000 million proposed for the General Budgets for next year was agreed with United We Can, Díaz has said that it is categorically "no" and has ruled that the "forms" in politics are important, especially when it affects to an aspect as sensitive as defense.

Therefore, he has demanded that decisions be made "properly", with respect for the allies and the Cortes Generales themselves, given that the opposition also has the right to know those plans.

In short, Díaz has claimed, in reference to the PSOE, that these budget debates and the increase in extraordinary credits must be carried out in a "serene" manner and above all "according to reality", since saying that this budget increase would have repercussions would benefit the Navantia's activity in Ferrol "is not true" and "unfortunately it is not like that".
