He explains that he spoke with all the formations and wants them to be present with the citizens because “everyone fits” on his platform

MADRID, 6 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, has assured that she has all the progressive parties for her project and awaits their presence at the presentation of ‘Sumar’, but she has told them that the idea is to give civil society the leading role.

In this sense, he has explained that he has spoken with “each and every one” of the political formations to the left of the PSOE, among which he has cited Podemos, IU, En Comú Podem, Compromís and Más País, and hopes to have them for the launch of their new platform, but leaving all the focus to civil society.

For their part, from Podemos and Más País they have explained that the Minister of Labor contacted them to explain the philosophy of the event and, in this sense, they have detailed that they will be present but without significant figures.

From Rome and at a joint press conference with the EU Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights and with the Italian Minister of Labor and Social Policies, Díaz explained that he has “high hopes” for Sumar and has launched a general appeal to contribute to this “process of change”, with the configuration of a new “democratic and citizen” project.

And it is that the vice president has highlighted her concern about the “enormous fracture” between citizens and the political sphere, which must be “repaired” and for which she promotes this new project, which will carry out a consultation phase with civil society to collect your initiatives.

The vice-president explained that she aspires to a “modern”, “dynamic”, “environmentalist”, “economically democratic” “feminist” and “diverse” country, for which she has decided to make the public presentation of ‘Sumar’ to coincide with the celebration of LGBTI Pride, which is a cultural and social “bulwark”.

In short, he has emphasized that his main aspiration is to achieve a “better country” and he wants the parties, but above all the citizens, on Friday, where a “new journey in which everyone fits” begins.

On the launch of ‘Sumar’, the general secretary of Podemos and head of Social Rights, Ione Belarra, explained that she was not going to attend after Diaz herself had asked her to, a position that she “respects” to promise that she will “accompany” the steps that give to configure your new political project.

He has also remarked that the purple formation is the “largest” party in the confluence of United We Can and is clear that he is going to work for “unity”.

The spokesman for United We Can, Pablo Echenique, has also reported at a press conference that the vice president has asked that prominent officials of his formation not attend and, therefore, he will not attend because the reason for the event is to give “prominence” to citizens, something that he respects because Díaz is the one who “decides the terms and times” of this project.

The leader of Más País, Íñigo Errejón, has also spoken, to highlight that he also spoke with Díaz and that Más País will be there but has not yet decided which person. “We will be well represented”, he has proclaimed.

Díaz will make his new platform official in an act made up of representatives of social organizations and civil society, with which he takes the reins to rearm the alternative left to the PSOE, downcast after the Andalusian elections.

With this, it intends to mobilize a progressive electorate that in the last elections has had high levels of abstention, with a process that seeks to widen and expand the current space of United We Can.

The presentation ceremony will be in an iconic place in Madrid, in the Matadero cultural center, and as they explained to Europa Press from their team, a long list of relevant personalities from civil society is being outlined.

The presence of the parties is also contemplated, but it has been planned that there will be no leader or front-rank leader in the event. The idea is that rank-and-file or militant charges can attend so as not to overshadow the spirit of the initiative: to give weight and voice to the citizenry.
