Díaz advocates improving the unemployment benefit of the self-employed and does not rule out a technical recession

MADRID, 28 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Second Vice President of the Government and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, has defended this Wednesday the need to improve the benefit for cessation of activity of the self-employed and to move towards the "equalization" of rights of the group with those enjoyed by the employed workers.

In an interview on the podcast 'We will come out better', collected by Europa Press, the second vice president has assured that "there is much to be done" in the world of self-employment, not only in the field of collective protection, but also in matters such as conciliation and prevention of labor risks.

Asked if the Spanish economy is heading towards a recession, Díaz pointed out that it will depend on what happens in Germany, although he has not ruled out the possibility of entering a technical recession.

In any case, he has indicated that it would be "small imbalances", that "would not cause a brutal fall in the economy and employment", and has guaranteed that, if there is a recession, the Government will be on the side of the citizens.

"We may or may not be in a context of technical recession. There is a fog that does not allow us to see that nebula (...) It can happen but, whatever happens, the Government is going to protect the productive fabric, the workers of this country and citizens. Regardless of what it costs", he underlined.

The second vice president has reiterated her intention to raise the minimum interprofessional wage (SMI) and to promote the rise in wages in Spain. "And if we go to a bad scenario, citizens have to know that the Government is going to defend them," she concluded.
