CCOO estimates 95% follow-up of the first day of the strike, while Repsol says it is minimal

MADRID, 15 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

CCOO de Industria has encrypted at 95% the follow-up by the workforce of the first day of the three days of strike -July 15, 16 and 17- called by the unions of the Repsol Group to demand the maintenance of purchasing power and of employment due to the negotiation of the X Framework Agreement, while the company estimates that it is being minimal.

In a statement, CCOO indicated that the staff of the multi-energy company has had its salary frozen since 2019 and the company, "despite having historical results, is not willing to recognize the guarantee of purchasing power."

A second phase of strikes is planned by the unions for August 13, 14 and 15 if an agreement is not reached. CCOO affirmed that it will call off the strikes if Repsol "reconsiders its position, maintains all the jobs it generates in Spain (without exceptions) and if it guarantees the increase in wages in the correct way, in full rebound in inflation."

According to union figures, 16,000 Repsol workers are called to support these three days of strike in the 1,000 work centers that the multinational has spread throughout the country.

For their part, Repsol sources told Europa Press that the follow-up of the strike day by the workers is being "low".

The same sources added that the day is being carried out "without incident" and operations are being maintained "normally" in the activity.

UGT VALUES A MASSIVE FOLLOW-UP

Meanwhile, UGT Fica stressed that the staff of the different companies that make up the Repsol Group have supported "massively the first of the days of strikes called by the majority unions, which has had a follow-up of over 90%".

In a statement, the union assessed that the strike has developed normally, without significant incidents having been recorded.

Likewise, UGT FICA expressed its confidence that, "given the success" of the first day of the strike, the company "will stick to reason and return to the path of dialogue to reach an agreement on a salary increase that guarantees the purchasing power of the workers".

REPSOL, OPEN TO DIALOGUE

This Thursday, company sources showed their respect for the "right of the employees" to support the strike called by the union representation and underlined the "willingness to continue working with the workers' representatives, as they have done in recent months, to reach an agreement that reflects the needs and demands of both parties, through a frank and open dialogue".

However, they expressed "their surprise" at the conflict raised, since "important progress" had been made in the negotiation for the new framework agreement.

Likewise, the multi-energy company reiterated its firm commitment to maintaining "quality employment, as one of the essential pillars of its transformation".
