Bolaños maintains that the Supreme Court has confirmed that the pro-independence process continues to be a crime

MADRID, 16 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, affirmed this Thursday that the resolution issued by the Supreme Court, which maintains the disqualification of the former vice president of Catalonia Oriol Junqueras until 2031, confirms that the events that occurred in 2017 during the independence process, continue to be a crime.

Bolaños has made these statements when questioned about the warning issued by the High Court in that same order, in which it warns that the repeal of the crime of sedition -- undertaken by the Government in the recent reform of the Penal Code in which it also modified the embezzlement-- leaves secessionist processes that are carried out without violence unpunished.

Thus, he has indicated that the judicial resolution agrees with the Government and confirms that the events that occurred in 2017 were a crime then "and will continue to be a crime in 2023", he stressed. For Bolaños "this is the reality."

The minister has insisted that the situation in Catalonia today is "infinitely better" than that of 2017 and that this has been achieved thanks to decisions taken "with great courage".
