The best-known cryptocurrencies, bitcoin and ethereum, registered large losses this Monday with falls of up to 10%, which places them at around 18,500 dollars (18,538 euros) and 1,300 dollars (1,302 euros), respectively.
Specifically, at 10:10 a.m., bitcoin was trading at a price of 18,488 dollars (18,526 euros), 7.84% less, while bitcoin plummeted 10.23% to stand at 1,306 dollars (1,308 euros).
These losses are recorded just a few days after Ethereum has completed its "merger", which will allow huge energy savings, but also implies less security.
In the markets, investors will be watching this week for the Federal Reserve decision on interest rates, which could surprise with a rise of 100 basis points.
