MADRID, 28 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Real Madrid's French striker, Karim Benzema, was this Wednesday the main protagonist of the 2022 Marca Awards Gala, collecting the LaLiga Santander Pichichi Trophy, as the competition's top scorer; the Di Stéfano Award, which he accredits as the best player last season; and the Fan MVP Trophy; at the same time that he predicted a "difficult year" that he faces with "excitement", because he "always" wants more.

"This year is going to be difficult, but I am very excited, I always want to do more, I want to win the League, and score a lot of goals, and above all, enjoy the pitch and let the people enjoy it, we play for them," said the striker when collecting the Pichichi Trophy, which, like the other two, he dedicated to his teammates, the club and its president, Florentino Pérez.

In addition, he did not hesitate to ensure that his teammates Vinicius Júnior and Rodrygo Goes can win the Pichichi Trophy in the future. "They are two young people, but they are old, because they have already played many games at Real Madrid", praised the '9', who recalled his goals against Sevilla and in the comebacks against PSG and Manchester City as the most special of the past campaign.

Benzema advanced that he is physically "well, very well", so he is "ready to play" this Sunday against Osasuna (9:00 p.m.). "I hope to be in the game on Sunday", wished the footballer, who also received the award for best player in the league championship last year (Di Stéfano Trophy), a former Real Madrid player with whom he shares "always believing" in his dream and "enjoy every moment" at the white club. "I feel very comfortable now and I'm lucky to be able to play for the best club in the world," he added.

"Every year is different, every year the rivals want to win the League and we will see what happens. We are strong and we only look at ourselves," he commented on the current campaign.

In addition to the French, during the event the best soccer players were recognized, in different categories, coaches and referees of the First and Second Division of Spanish soccer, in a gala that was also attended by the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) , Alejandro Blanco, and the former president of Boca Juniors and former president of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, among others.

The Real Betis coach, Manuel Pellegrini, collected his second Miguel Muñoz Trophy, after ten seasons in the First Division, after spells at Villarreal, Real Madrid, Málaga and the Verdiblanco team. "It is an honor to receive the award for the second time. I have been lucky enough to be in four different clubs, I have always been well received in Spain. The Betis fans are very passionate, winning the Copa del Rey has done football well in Sevilla, for the amount of people behind it and the passion", he thanked.

The Zarra Trophy of LaLiga Santander, for the top Spanish scorer last year, was shared by Raúl de Tomás and Iago Aspas, while the Zamora Trophy was collected by Yassine Bono, who applauded the "great honour" of being the first Sevilla goalkeeper to receive this award. "It is very important to me. I thank Sevilla and all its people, who help us every day, without them it would not be so easy. I will continue working to continue responding to the needs of the club", he stated about his team, of which he assured that "in difficulties it always grows and that's how it will be".

For his part, the striker for Atlético de Madrid and the Spanish team, Álvaro Morata, received the MVP Trophy from the national team, as the scorer of the goal that qualified Spain for the World Cup and the goal that put Luis Enrique's men in the ' F4' of the League of Nations. "Very happy, yesterday it was important to win, it's another opportunity to win another title. It's a goal we have, we've been working from the lower categories for many years," he said.

"I really want to, I wouldn't like to be the master because I have 50 players who can go to the World Cup. There are many at a high level, those who go will defend Spain," he added about the options to go to the tournament that begins in Qatar at the month of November.

Other winners of the highest category of Spanish football were the Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, with the Miguel Muñoz de Oro Trophy, and the referee Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias, awarded the Guruceta Trophy as the best referee of LaLiga Santander during the course past.

In 'Second', the Pichichi Trophy as top scorers, with 22 goals each, was shared by Girona striker Christian Stuani and Real Oviedo striker Borja Bastón, who also received the Zarra Trophy, as the competition's top Spanish scorer. In addition, the referee Víctor García Verdura collected the Guruceta Trophy from LaLiga Smartbank.

The Zamora Trophy in the silver category went to Fernando Martínez, Almería goalkeeper -with 16 clean sheets-, and his coach, Joan Francesc Ferrer 'Rubi', was distinguished as the best coach of last season with the Miguel Muñoz Trophy. "You have to work a lot, achieve a goal (move up) that is more difficult than it seems. The rest of the coaches could be here like me," he said during the gala.
