Belarra will not attend the presentation of 'Sumar' because Díaz has requested it and will accompany the decisions he makes

MADRID, 6 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, has explained that she will not attend the presentation of 'Sumar' this Friday because the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, has asked her to do so, and "respects" and "accompanies" the steps she takes to configure his new political project.

In statements to TVE, collected by Europa Press, the also holder of Social Rights has explained that Díaz is her candidate for the next general elections and she is the one who leads this process of reconfiguring the alternative left to the PSOE.

In this way, he has remarked that the purple formation is the "largest" party in the confluence of United We Can and is clear that he is going to work for "unity".

In this sense, he explained that the Minister of Labor is the one who makes the decisions within this platform and, therefore, must give the "details" of the imminent launch of Sumar and mark the times of its configuration.

In this regard, he has detailed that Díaz has asked him not to attend this launch event and consequently he will not go because he respects the decisions of the vice president because the "key" is to offer support in his ability to make decisions. And it is that the vice president has emphasized on several occasions that she wants to give civil society a leading role and that the parties are essential, but they must have a secondary role in the listening process.

"In this specific case we have been asked not to go, we are going to respect it but of course we will be there contributing to the growth and unity of the space," he summarized.

Díaz will make his new platform official in an act made up of representatives of social organizations and civil society, with which he takes the reins to rearm the alternative left to the PSOE, downcast after the Andalusian elections.

With this, it intends to mobilize a progressive electorate that in the last elections has had high levels of abstention, with a process that seeks to widen and expand the current space of United We Can.

The presentation ceremony will be in an iconic place in Madrid, in the Matadero cultural center, and as they explained to Europa Press from their team, a long list of relevant personalities from civil society is being outlined.

The presence of the parties is also contemplated, but it has been planned that there will be no leader or front-rank leader in the event. The idea is that rank-and-file or militant charges can attend so as not to overshadow the spirit of the initiative: to give weight and voice to the citizenry.
