Barça wakes up against Baskonia and Real Madrid destroys Monbus Obradoiro

MADRID, 2 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Real Madrid made its debut at home in the Endesa League with a resounding victory (93-79) crushing Monbus Obradoiro with an offensive and dynamic basketball display, while Barça woke up on time and turned around a bad start against Baskonia to break the Basques with a great second half.

Chus Mateo's men had a high-level first quarter, with a fast game supported by the work of their pivots and the success of three-point shots (4/5). The blurred and soft defense of the Galician team also helped, so that the Madrid team closed the first quarter with a resounding 27-12, a gap that would be unattainable for Obradoiro.

However, also as a result of some relaxation on the part of the Whites due to the result, Obradoiro improved and started the second quarter much more seriously in defensive tasks, boosted by two three-pointers from Vicedo to make it 4-11. But Real Madrid's response was forceful with a 9-0 run and coming into the break with a 42-25 lead, thanks in large part to the talent of Musa, a substitute, who finished with 22 points as the game's top scorer .

After the break everything remained the same, with Yabusele doing his thing and widening the gap, which by minute 25 was already 20 points. The Galicians timidly approached on the scoreboard at the end of the third quarter, but Real Madrid pressed the accelerator again to close the game with a 14-point advantage over Monbus Obradoiro.

Barça signed a first half against Baskonia to forget on the defensive plot, one of Jasikevicius' hallmarks. The Basques were more intense from the start and, with a Barça team worried about draining water, they won the first quarter (17-23). The nightmares of the debut against Gran Canaria began to resurface, and were confirmed in the second set.

Despite the fact that Barça's second unit fixed the bad start to a certain extent, Peñarroya's men became more serious defensively and continued to press the accelerator and dig into the defensive wound of the Catalan team with Giedratis' triples. And they came into the break with a wide lead (39-51).

After the restart, another Barça was seen, more connected and intense, which took advantage of Baskonia's less demanding defense. Abrines, with 13 points, and Vesely, with 15, built the comeback to finish the game winning 89-74 and add the first victory of the course.

In the rest of the games this Sunday, Valencia took the match against Joventut after extra time (101-97), thanks to a great performance by Jared Harper (24 points), intractable in extra time. Those from Badalona had him close on two occasions, but they failed at key moments. Kyle Guy's 27 points were useless for Joventut, with up to three players above 15 points in Valencia.

For its part, Surne Bilbao Basket added its second win of the season against Coosur Real Betis, backed by a great Adam Smith, with 23 points. The consistent victory had the American as the main protagonist, shielded by the Swedish Ludde Hakanson (16 points). The Andalusians are still without a win and are penultimate.

Finally, Breogán beat Carplus Fuenlabrada (78-70) to achieve their second victory of the season, with a great Bamforth (18 points); while Unicaja completed a great ensemble performance against Gran Canaria (70-63), with Osetkowski as the winning team's top scorer (12 points).
