Avangrid (Iberdrola), chosen for the fifth year in a row to be part of the FTSE4Good sustainability index

Avangrid, the US subsidiary of Iberdrola, has been chosen for the fifth consecutive year to be part of the FTSE4Good index, a selective index that measures the performance of companies that demonstrate solid ESG practices, the group reported.

Specifically, the energy company is at the top of the ranking compared to its peers that provide public services that are evaluated by the creator of the index, FTSE Russell.

The FTSE4Good Indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and rate responsible investment funds and other financial products.

Assessments from the FTSE Russell, the creator of the index, are based on performance in areas such as corporate governance, health, safety, anti-corruption and climate change. Thus, the companies included in the FTSE4Good index series meet a series of environmental, social and governance criteria.

In its most recent assessment, Avangrid ranked in the top quartile of its peers in the FTSE Russell utility industry sub-sector for ESG rating and had the highest score for governance, which includes evaluation of risk management, corporate governance and the fight against corruption.

In addition, Iberdrola's US subsidiary obtained a rating that was more than 60% higher than that of its US counterparts in terms of labor standards, human and community rights, pollution and resources.
