Autonomous leaders and deputies dominate the profile of the candidates for the internal primaries of Podemos in various Autonomous Communities

MADRID, 2 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The internal primaries of Podemos for the regional and municipal elections will start on October 10 and to date the candidates who have already decided to take the step mostly respond to the same profile: regional coordinators or national and regional deputies.

The formation grants maximum relevance to these elections to consolidate the progressive governments and the State Citizen Council, its highest management body, agreed to have its candidates defined on November 4, just when the process of consulting those registered ends.

Once this process has passed, the electoral alliances for this event will be explored, where agreements with the IU and Alianza Verde will be prioritized first, to later explore broader coalitions with other formations of the left or of the progressive social fabric.

For now, no surprises have arisen in the pre-candidates and the general trend is the continuity or the step to the front of public and institutional positions of the formation.

The main developments to date have occurred in the Community of Madrid given that at the regional level the project will be spearheaded by the state co-spokesperson and regional parliamentarian, Alejandra Jacinto, who will make an electoral ticket with the former athlete Roberto Sotomayor, who starts as the favorite for the case of the capital.

Regarding Murcia, the forecast is fulfilled and the regional deputy María Marín to head the regional list for the elections in May next year, for which she has the full support of the regional leadership.

In the Balearic Islands, the current Vice President and Minister of Energy Transition, Juan Pedro Yllanes, decided not to repeat as a candidate and the regional coordinator and deputy in Congress, Antònia Jover, will replace him in the internal primaries of his formation. In turn, her partner in the Lower House, Lucía Muñoz, will do the same for the Palma City Council.

Also in the case of Aragon, the regional leader and Minister of Science of the Autonomous Government, Maru Díaz, will aspire to be a candidate, while the mayor Fernando Rivarés also takes the step in the case of the Zaragoza City Council.

Meanwhile, in Extremadura there is no surprise given that the regional coordinator and regional deputy, Irene de Miguel, will again choose to head the list of the purple formation.

In turn, in Castilla-La Mancha, where Podemos is currently an extra-parliamentary force, the territorial leader, José Luis García Gascón, already announced in mid-September that he would attend the primaries.

At the moment in Asturias, applicants are unknown as in the Valencian Community, although in the latter case the regional vice president, Héctor Illueca, is expected to take that step. Also in the case of the Canary Islands there are announcements in this regard and if the regional vice president Noemi Santana will repeat.

Regarding Cantabria, the election remains unknown after the decision of the regional leader, Luis del Piñal, not to appear in the primary process and leave active politics.

On the other hand, in Navarra the purple formation, IU, Batzarre and Independientes reached an agreement to go to the regional elections together, under the brand 'Contigo Navarra'. A similar strategy is followed in La Rioja where Podemos and IU will join again to go to this electoral appointment together.

After the primary process, Podemos will present its regional candidates at the 'Autumn Uni', one of its main ideological forums to rearm the organization through a series of debates with its bases.

Subsequently, as agreed by the electoral committee for these elections, he will launch a tour of the different autonomous communities under the slogan 'the force of transformation' and will claim his role in the main achievements within the coalition government. They will be a series of acts carried out by the main leaders of the party, as well as their autonomous positions, and the first appointments will take place in Aragón, Madrid and Asturias.
