Asens (UP) asks to give "margin of confidence" to the new attorney general and highlights his progressive ancestry

He says of Delgado that there are "remarkable aspects of his career that must be valued"

MADRID, 20 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the parliamentary group of Unidas Podemos in Congress, Jaume Asens, has defended giving a "margin of confidence" to the new Attorney General of the State, Álvaro García, after the resignation of Dolores Delgado and has highlighted his progressive profile.

In statements to TVE, collected by Europa Press, he explained that yesterday he sent a message of support to the former attorney general, who resigned due to health problems, and praised that Delgado is a person "committed" to human rights and that he has done "positive" things for the Prosecutor's Office, especially in terms of parity and in the "fight against Francoist crimes".

"There are remarkable things in his career that must be valued," Asens has deepened to emphasize, then that he does not know the new attorney general very much but he was Delgado's "right hand" and both come from the same progressive association. "We trust that he will continue on his way," he concluded.

Regarding the situation of the fires, the leader of En Comú Podem has conveyed solidarity with the family of the deceased brigade member in Losacio (Zamora) and with the relatives of the people who have also died from the heat wave.

In his opinion, the debate should now focus on the working conditions of firefighting personnel, who "work their asses" to eradicate declared fires.

Therefore, Asens has defended that it is "more urgent than ever to get out of the freezer" the bill for the coordination and improvement of fire prevention and extinction services. Consequently, he asks the PSOE to promote said regulations and a specific statute for forest firefighters, who require more resources and to put an end to their precarious conditions and risk of outsourcing.

And it is that the president of the confederal group has concluded that more public investment is needed to prevent forest fires, more coordination and even the possibility of having a single command to coordinate all available means.
