Asens admits that Podemos is far from supporting the consideration of the PSOE reform on the 'yes is yes' law

MADRID, 1 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Unidas Podemos in Congress, Jaume Asens, has admitted that his parliamentary group is now "far from voting yes" to the consideration of the PSOE's bill to reform the Law 'only yes is yes', given which does not currently have the support of the Ministry of Equality directed by Irene Montero.

However, it has considered that there are not so many differences between the approach of the confederate space and that of its coalition partner, for which reason it is optimistic regarding the consensus options, which could be extended in the amendment phase if the initiative continues its processing. parliamentary

In statements to TVE, collected by Europa Press, the also leader of En Comú Podem has indicated that there is no proper negotiation with the PSOE on the changes to be introduced in the regulations, although there are informal contacts and he himself has met with the Minister of Justice, Pilar Llop.

For this reason and after stressing that they have sent seven proposals for modification that have not received a response, he has once again urged the Socialists to sit at the table. However, he has opined that if they do not reach a consensus on March 7, when the consideration of the bill is debated, there is room for an agreement in the amendment phase.

Of course, he has insisted that right now they are far from giving their affirmative vote to this proposal and has called it an "error" that the PSOE is "looking to the right" to move it forward, since in that parliamentary arc there are formations that " deny" gender violence, in reference to Vox, or that they brutally cut funds for the fight against sexist violence, in reference to the PP.

Yesterday and after the Council of Ministers, the head of Equality assured that there are "plenty of possibilities" for the partners of the Government, PSOE and Podemos, to reach an agreement.

In this sense, he explained that the judicial decisions that have led to a reduction in sentences for "some" sexual offenders "require some response" from the Government and that this "should be unitary", in addition to "respecting consent at the center of the Penal Code ".

"What I want is an agreement before giving the right and the extreme right the opportunity to add their votes to return to the previous Criminal Code. I want an agreement and for that I will continue working until the last second," he declared, before point out that "he does not even want to think" about reaching the plenary session without an agreement and that Podemos has to vote against taking the reform into consideration.
