Arrimadas confirms that she will be the president of Cs until the refoundation is completed, which can last six months

The 'oranges' have already begun the process with the constitution of a political team and an external advisory body

MADRID, 27 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Ciudadanos, Inés Arrimadas, confirmed this Monday that she will remain in her position until the party completes the refoundation process, which has been accelerated after the debacle in the Andalusian elections, while confirming that the process can be concluded in six months.

During an appearance before the National Executive Committee at the national headquarters of Ciudadanos, in Madrid, he detailed that his "commitment" and that of his team "lasts until the refoundation." When the process is over, it will be the militancy that has to endorse the direction of the formation in a general assembly.

"We are not going to be a problem," said the 'orange' leader, who has insisted that resigning is not "the right thing to do", despite the fact that she has "the speech in her head". In her opinion, it is the most "comfortable" decision, but she has conveyed that the rest of the Ciudadanos leaders have asked her to "stay strong."

Of the refoundation, Arrimadas has specified that it will be "profound" and that the objective is to "excite" the electorate that "is still here" and that "has to feel again that Ciudadanos is useful" and "represents them in the most broad of the word.

Thus, clarifying that the refoundation process had already been "thought out" and that the Andalusian elections have only "accelerated" the issue, Arrimadas has announced the constitution of a political team to specify the work of the technical team.

The deputy mayor of Madrid, Begoña Villacís, has a prominent role as liaison between the team and the management bodies, while the spokesperson will be Deputy Guillermo Díaz. Together with them, and defining them as "new blood", Arrimadas has reported that the mayor of Ciudad Real, Eva Masías; the candidate from Santa Coloma Dimas Gragera; MEP Adrián Vázquez and the coordinators of the Balearic Islands and the Valencian Community, Patricia Guasch and María Muñoz, respectively, make up the team.

The second of the legs of the refoundation is, according to Arrimadas, the participation of the militancy. Thus, the creation of five working groups is planned in which it will be possible to participate in an open manner and which will be able to make programmatic and organizational proposals. The idea is that the conclusions can be known on September 16.

Finally, it has reported the creation of an external advisory body, made up of people who are not from Ciudadanos but want the party to exist, such as intellectuals. "Beyond the noise they want to collaborate", he has nuanced her.

In reference to the times, the 'orange' leader has specified that the management believes that the refoundation can be completed in six months, despite the fact that the initial idea, which was already flying over the formation before the elections in Andalusia, was twelve months .

In this line, he has confirmed that at the municipal level the candidacies for the elections, scheduled for May 2023, have already begun to prepare. "We are going to overturn," he has warned.

Similarly, he has indicated that he assumes the errors of this stage, but has insisted that he has the "absolute conviction" that Ciudadanos is "a very good match for Spain" and continues to be "essential".
