Almeida asks not to talk about post-election agreements before the Andalusians: "We cannot send wrong messages"

He warns that there is a silent majority "fed up" with the "double game of the left" and that "sooner rather than later it is going to bring down Sánchez"

MADRID, 6 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has asked this Monday not to talk about possible post-election agreements before the Andalusian elections on June 19 and has stressed that the president of the Board and candidate for re-election, Juanma Moreno, wants achieve the "largest majority" possible and govern "alone". In his opinion, at this time they cannot "send misleading and confusing messages" about whether the PP is going to agree "with some" or "with others."

This was stated at an informative breakfast organized by Europa Press, which was attended by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, the president of the PP of Castilla-La Mancha, Paco Núñez , the president of the Committee of Rights and Guarantees of the PP, José Antonio Monago, or the president of the Assembly of Madrid, Eugenia Carballedo, among others.

When asked expressly if he would welcome a PP-Vox coalition government in Andalusia like the one reached in Castilla y León, Almeida replied that he "would welcome a Juamma Moreno government" as he himself said in the campaign.

"Before the elections one cannot talk about pacts. The pacts are with the citizens. We always have to aspire to be the largest possible majority and we do not have to look to our left or to our right. We have to look at the citizens," he proclaimed.

Almeida has said that he "understands" that the other parties want to talk about the PP but has stressed that what his party wants to talk about is "the Andalusians." "Therefore, what we cannot at this time is to send misleading and confusing messages about whether I am going to agree with some or I am going to agree with others," he stressed.

At this point, he highlighted that Moreno himself has said that he wants to have "the widest possible majority and govern alone." "I am convinced that he is in a position to be able to do it," said the Madrid councilor.

When asked if he believes that his popularity as mayor has fallen as a result of the so-called case of the masks on contracts in a pandemic, he has indicated that this is something that "the people of Madrid will have to decide" that, as he said, they are "clear" that "there is not a single person charged or accused" after months of investigation.

"In any case, the Madrid City Council is the victim of a possible crime of fraud", asserted the alderman, adding that the people of Madrid "are clear that they did what they had to do at that time", "working hard" to achieve that sanitary material. If they were "deceived", he has continued, "that will have to be decided by the judge".

Almeida has complained that these months he has been branded a "delinquent", "thief" or "corrupt" by "the left" without "being charged." "If they had charged me, what would they have said?", he asked , to denounce the "double game" of the left.

At this point, he pointed out that "the left is collapsing in Spain because there is a silent majority out there that is fed up with the double game, the hypocrisy and the pretended moral superiority that it arrogates over all the others".

"It's enough that they demand from others what they don't demand from themselves", he stated, referring to the situation of the vice-president of the Valencian Community, Mónica Oltra, who "is one step away from being charged with covering up sexual abuse of a minor" or that "the three top managers of Pedro Sánchez's purchases are charged in a Madrid court for 310 million euros" in the pandemic.

Moreover, the mayor of Madrid has criticized Sánchez's "rennet" for speaking in Dos Hermanas (Seville) about the "corruption of the PP" when in this autonomy there is a sentence that "condemns the last two socialist presidents of the Board of Andalusia".

"In Spain there is a vast silent majority that is absolutely fed up with their hypocrisy, their double standards and the singling out and harassment they do to anyone who does not think like them", he stated, to warn that "this silent majority sooner than later he is going to make Pedro Sánchez fall".

Asked later if, in the event of a major defeat for the PSOE in the Andalusian elections, that could influence Pedro Sánchez's decision to advance the general election, Almeida stated that they are sure that the chief executive will act and make decisions "according to solely and exclusively for your personal interest.

"Pedro Sánchez is not going to think about the Spaniards nor is he going to think about the PSOE. Let no militant of the PSOE think that Pedro Sánchez is going to think about what is best for the PSOE. Therefore, the only thing he is going to do is think about the best for himself and the best for his personal future, let it be clear", he indicated.

In this sense, the Madrid councilor has insisted that if someone wants to know at this time what the President of the Government is going to do in relation to the date of the general elections, "the only way to get it right is to think about what is best for your interest staff".

At the informative breakfast, the mayor of Madrid stated that he is "from Ayuso because he is from Feijóo" and that "he is from Feijóo because he is from Ayuso". "And she is not a Galician. I am from the PP", he has proclaimed, to defend that the Popular Party is "a large house" and must aspire to continue being so, since if not, they will not be "winners".

When asked how he went from defending the 'third way' in the PP in Madrid to supporting Ayuso and what convinced him, Almeida has assured that he made the decision to support her after his electoral results in the regional elections on May 4, in the that the Madrid president achieved "an overwhelming victory, which shows how Sánchez can be released as soon as possible".

In his opinion, from that moment Isabel Díaz Ayuso obtained "legitimacy" to be president of the PP in Madrid. In addition, he has said that, after the "traumatic" experience that the PP lived through, "the "most serious" crisis in its recent history, they must send the people of Madrid two messages: one, stop talking about themselves; and two, a message of confidence and stability."And who best embodies it is Ayuso", he concluded.
