A delegation from Congress and the Senate will meet tomorrow with their Mexican counterparts to discuss points of cooperation

MADRID, 27 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Senate will host this Monday the XVI Interparliamentary Meeting between representatives of the Congress and the Senate of Spain, including their presidents, Meritxell Batet and Ander Gil, and a delegation from the legislative chambers of Mexico. In this meeting, there will be four work sessions to strengthen cooperation in security matters, the fight against climate change and the strengthening of the rule of law, among other issues.

The session will begin this Monday at 9:30 a.m. with the intervention of Meritxell Batet and Ander Gil on the Spanish side, and, as Mexican representation, the head of the Mexican legislative delegation, Ricardo Monreal Ávila, and the president of the Chamber of Deputies will speak , Santiago Creel.

After these opening remarks, four working sessions will be held behind closed doors, which will end at 8:30 p.m. with the adoption of the conclusions of the inter-parliamentary meeting between the two countries.

The last interparliamentary meeting that was held between the Cortes Generales of Spain and Mexico was in 2017 and left a joint declaration of about ten pages to strengthen cooperation in various aspects.

In this meeting tomorrow, the first of the working sessions will deal with economic and commercial cooperation; the second will deal with cooperation in equality, education, health and culture; the third will deal with cooperation in combating climate change, while the fourth will deal with matters of security and strengthening the rule of law.

According to the composition of the delegations of the four Chambers, to which Europa Press has had access, the Congress will send Batet; the third vice president, Gloria Elizo; the spokesmen for the PSOE and PP in the Economic Affairs Commission; the president, vice president, and second vice president of the Education Commission; the spokesman for the Mixed Group in the Health Commission; the president and vice president of the Ecological Transition Commission; the first secretary and the first vice-president of the Interior Commission.

For the Senate come Ander Gil; the deputy spokesmen of the PSOE and PP; the spokespersons for ERC, PNV, Junts, Izquierda Confederal, Grupo Democrático, Grupo Mixto and the president of the Ibero-American Affairs Commission

In the case of the Mexican Senate, President Ricardo Monreal Ávila will attend; the coordinators of the Institutional Revolutionary Party Group, the Citizen Movement Group, the Green Party Group, the Labor Party Group and the Democratic Revolution Group; the secretary of the Board of Directors and the president of the European Foreign Relations Commission.

In the case of the Chamber of Deputies, its president will travel to Spain; the president of the Mexico-Spain Friendship Group; the coordinator of the PRD Group and several deputies from the Morena, PAN, PRI, PT and MC Parliamentary Groups.
