Well-known car manufacturers in Formula 1: it will not always be a success

this week-end is going to be in Austria, the highly anticipated new Formula 1 season is starting up. Inside, the sport's car manufacturers, Ferrari, Honda, Mercedes-Benz and Renault for the fourth year in a row, as motorleveranciers of the service. Recent newcomers to the bleach is only naamgevers, such as Alfa Romeo and Aston Martin. However, there was a wide range of volumemerken in the sport of running. This was not always a successful one.

None of the autoconcerns which F1 engines are to build, is to be found in the world's top five largest manufacturers in the world. Honda has that motor in AlphaTauri and Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen, with over 5.1 million copies, the largest car manufacturer in the sport.

Renault will follow at an appropriate distance, with some 3.8 million units in 2019. That number is in addition to the sale of Alpine, Dacia, Lada, Samsung Renault Motors, is taken into account. Renault has a factory team and it gives this year, for the last time on the engines to McLaren. Mercedes-Benz, the Racing, the Point is that Williams sold the previous year to 2.83 million cars.

the Ferrari was, and is, a small sports car manufacturer. The brand brought in last year, 10.131 cars for wealthy customers. Admittedly, such a manufacturer will fit the sport better than any volumemerk as a single form. However, in the past, as mentioned, well-known players who are trying to have ventured.

Toyota was one of not escaping,

The most recent example is that of Toyota, which is the second largest manufacturer in the world, and it is the most valuable car brand at the moment. As a company of the size, got it in 2002 with a factory team in formula 1.

Peugeot's are not very reliable

Following its success in rallying and long distance races, decided on a Peugeot in 1994 and the move to the Formula 1 car. McLaren dared to chance and went out with a French supplier for the sea. As for the engine, did, were racing drivers, Mika Häkkinen and Martin Brundle, there is almost always podiumplekken with it. Unfortunately, there were quite a few uitvalbeurten than there is to write it down.

Volumemerken find merit in the Formula, E is

Ford is about volumemerk in the "Formula 1" was running - and it worked. The Mercedes and the Ferrari, the brand that has the most Formula 1 victories to his name: 176 pieces. That, however, is more for the benefit of the British company Cosworth, then car, because the engines, although the Ford-logo on it - mostly from the British Cosworth factory, came up.

Big names such as Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, James Hunt, Keke Rosberg and Michael Schumacher became world champion with a Ford-Cosworth engine.

the Ford was held at the Stewart Grand Prix team from 1997 to 1999 and also as a de-facto factory team. Jos Verstappen drove out of there without a lot of success in the second half of the 1998 season.

The return of such volumemerken to the Formula-1, even though the agreed-upon kostenplafond, it is unlikely. The last new entrant Honda, which is returning as a motorleverancier in 2015, up from last year's patience, it had to have been the first podium and victory.

Car manufacturers are trying to find their salvation in the electric racing series Formula E, which includes Audi, BMW, DS, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Porsche will take part in it.
