VIDEO. PSA assembles the heart of the respirators for the French hospitals

The automotive group manufactures on its site of Poissy, the heart of the respirators that will then be delivered to hospitals to help the sick of the Covid-19.

The respirators have replaced the cars in the factory in Poissy (Yvelines) of the PSA group. The site typically produces 300 small 4x4 luxurious urban DS3 Crossback per day. Since the beginning of the health crisis, the rows are arrested, and a hundred employee volunteers are actively involved in the manufacturing of the heart of the respirators for the French hospitals.

Valves, but also joints, reducers, solenoid valves, gears, springs, flexible hoses : approximately 140 plastic parts, aluminium and brass must find their place, at the end of eight assembly lines in parallel.

The workshop should go up a little at a cadence, the goal being to go out 300 blocks per day. The units produced will go for a final assembly in Antony (Hauts-de-Seine).

PSA is a part, with the equipment manufacturers Valeo and Schneider Electric, a consortium brought together around Air Liquide, which has set itself the objective of producing by mid-may, 10 000 respirators to assist the hospitals of france to spend the next epidemic wave.
