Month in Quebec, 2020 : entries open on 15 August

This event highlighting the Beautiful Province and the opportunities for French back in October for a second edition, entirely virtual.

"save time" to all those who dream of la Belle Province or that are in the process of achieving their project expatriation : this is the mission of the "Month of Québec", which comes back in October for a second edition - registrations open on August 15. This free event, designed by the organization "Objectif Québec !", intends to "bring the reality on the ground" and answer all the questions posed by the French about Quebec, whether in the field of immigration, living on-site (housing, schools, banking system, etc), but also employment opportunities or training.

"the Internet and social networks provide a wealth of information, but people often have trouble sorting out, especially as they read things sometimes contradictory, notes Christelle Creator, founder and ceo of Objectif Québec ! With our network of partners (1), we want to help them see more clearly and help them specifically in their project."

"Go to the closer of the candidates"

Context requires, the organisers had to re-invent the edition 2020 of the event, which will be entirely virtual. But it retains its basic thematic conferences animated by specialists (lawyer, expert in relocation, etc), sessions of questions/answers with participants and sessions in the job dating - several offers of employment in various sectors (information technologies, health, etc) will be posted upstream on the free app "Target Quebec !" (it is available on all mobile platforms).

Even the system of the "tour de France", which made the success of the concept (5000 people had made the trip for the edition 2019) will be maintained. Bordeaux (October 5) in Paris (26-27 October), this virtual tour will rise by 16 towns (2). "My wish was to maintain the link with the cities to keep the meaning the same of the Month of Québec, namely to go to the closer of the candidates," explains Christelle Creator. In practice, this does not mean that an inhabitant of Lille will not be able to register for the day in Toulouse or Rennes ! But we give the opportunity to each municipality to communicate on the event and have a dedicated time during their day. This will also be the opportunity to put forward their possible link with the province of Quebec (twinning activities and partnerships between schools, etc)"

Testimonials and live performances

This virtual version even allows you to"enhance" the formula of the Month of Quebec, welcomes its organizer. Different protagonists (French expatriates, the mayors of cities in quebec, the heads of the company, or the directors of the centres of formation) will in fact bring them in the eye and testify of their experience. Side culture, artists (singers, magicians) will offer live performances, and cooks will discover typical recipes. "What we want is that people can, for a month, have access to a dedicated platform in Quebec, where he spent every day for something new, a bit like a mini-tv !", summarizes the project's founder, was welcomed with enthusiasm quebec side. It must be said that virtually all trade shows and recruitment events have been cancelled in 2020...

"a Lot of companies in quebec were concerned and asked me if the French were still interested in Quebec, despite the economic crisis of the Covid-19," says Christelle Creator. From my point of view, nothing has changed, I still see the same craze. The pandemic has not dampened the projects starting, on the contrary. For some candidates, the two months of confinement have even accelerated the desires underlying it."

"The shortage of labour has not gone away"

And even if international mobility has experienced in recent months a sudden stop, "the shortage of labour in Quebec has not disappeared, noted the organizer of the operation. There have been layoffs in the province, of course, but the servers and cooks who have lost their jobs are not going to become welders or truck drivers if by magic... The province needs immigrants to fill some of its needs, we maintain this momentum and to provide the best support people who want to from and help them to become good expatriates."

With a straight-talking assumed, this coach never ceases in effect to remind the applicants to the big jump to la Belle Province that such a project is not to be taken lightly and that true preparation is required. "The French want to go to Quebec because they have the postcard image - which is true - but they underestimate the difficulties. They imagine that because they speak French, it will be easy. It is fake ! What's more, they focus their reflection on their desire for new life, but they rarely ask if the Quebec has need of them..." The board of this specialist in expatriation ? Stay humble and not forget that there, it will be ready to start again at zero...
