After he was found selling Xanax and ecstasy on the deep internet, a Brockton man was sentenced to eight year imprisonment and ordered to forfeit 59 bitcoin valued at $2.3 million.

Brockton Man Forfeits 59 Bitcoin After a Sting Operation in Norwood

According to the Boston Herald, Massachusetts law enforcement dealt with a significant-sized federal forfeiture related to a "darknet kingpin." Binh Thanh Le was arrested for selling Xanax and ecstasy and was found with a large amount of drugs, 59 bitcoin and approximately $114K cash.

Le was 22 years old when he was arrested in June 2019. Massachusetts law enforcement seized 10.000 Xanax pills and 44 pounds MDMA (ecstasy) along with roughly 15 pounds worth of anesthesia ketamine. Flint McColgan, a Boston Herald journalist, explained that Le had sold his 2018 BMW M3 valued at $66.5K for $42.3K when he settled.

Rachael Rollins, U.S. attorney in Massachusetts, explained that Le would be sentenced to eight year imprisonment and that his bitcoins will now be held by law enforcement. This sentence sends a clear signal to Dark Web criminals that the federal government has entered this space. Rollins stated in a statement that they will find you and hold you accountable. The U.S. attorney added:

Our law enforcement colleagues have done an amazing job and there is now one less cybercriminal hiding under the covers.

Le was arrested after the Wall Street Market (WSM), darknet team was charged with exit scamming. After Dream Market closed its operations, the accusations were made against Le. A large number of darknet market users flocked towards WSM. Le was arrested in a sting operation in Norwood, Massachusetts after his Bitcoin was seize.

Le was also arrested along with two Brockton men, Steven McCall and Allante Pies. McColgan's report states that the two alleged conspirators pleaded not guilty. The report also noted that the darknet team packed products in Lego boxes. These contained pure MDMA (ecstasy), otherwise called Molly.
