Zelensky announces more sanctions against Russia and thanks his allies

KIEV, 28 May. (DPA/EP) -

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky thanked his allies Germany, Finland, Canada and Iceland for the latest arms shipments in a video released on Saturday from Kiev: "The support will help Ukrainian air defenses and their overall defense capability against the Terror of Russia".

He has also announced "tougher" sanctions against Russia with the aim of ending the war in Ukraine. "Today is another day of sanctions" he said, to which he added that 220 companies and 51 people have entered the list of "those who work for terror".

Most are arms companies close to Russian businesses, "companies that serve war," as the president has described them. He has explained that not all of them operate on Russian soil, but they are all going to receive "international pressure".

"Ukrainian authorities have been collecting information from those who support the war and have launched campaigns to punish them on a global scale," Zelensky reported.

Finally, he wanted to thank Japan for the announcement this week of a new package of sanctions against Russia.
