Abascal will throw himself into a campaign in which the party intends to "sell" the management model of Castilla y León

MADRID, 8 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Vox believes that, after the regional elections on the 28th, it can condition the governments of Madrid, Extremadura, Ceuta, Murcia, the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands and Castilla-La Mancha; in addition to several town halls of large provincial capitals and other places, such as La Rioja, in which the electoral campaign will be decisive.

Santiago Abascal's party faces these elections as the first to attend as an already strong and consolidated party, since in the 2019 elections its territorial presence was almost testimonial and it did not have a consolidated organization either, according to sources from the formation .

Given the importance they give to this electoral event, Vox has organized four large caravans led by its top leaders. The first is the one headed by Abascal, who has been visiting different parts of Spain for several weeks now and will be focusing on the campaign for the next two weeks.

The opening ceremony will take place on Friday the 12th in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Valencia, a place that Vox sees as strategic due to the possibility of contributing to changes in government both in the city and in the autonomous community.

During the following weeks, Abascal will continue touring Spain with rallies in open places in different parts of the geography, many days with two daily events in different cities. For the first days he has already announced his presence in Teruel, Vitoria, Barcelona, Pamplona and Asturias, in Covadonga.

The other three caravans will be led by the Secretary General, Ignacio Garriga, who will focus above all on Catalonia; the parliamentary spokesman, Iván Espinosa de los Monteros; and the MEP and spokesman for the Political Action Committee, Jorge Buxadé.

There will also be an important presence of its general secretary in Congress, José María Figaredo; and the vice president of Castilla y León, Juan García Gallardo, a model that Vox will use as an example of management throughout the campaign.

The party leadership has colloquially baptized the campaign as 'The Spain of national roads', since its leaders will travel many kilometers to be present in many cities and municipalities.

Vox has designed a campaign that is very close to the neighbours, with many stops, visits and walks; instead of big acts. In fact, it does not plan to hold any mass meeting in large venues, although they have Abascal's power of convocation throughout the territory.

The formation assumes a great growth in the number of votes for granted, although its subsequent strength in city councils and parliaments depends on electoral arithmetic. In any case, it counts on achieving a presence in all the regional chambers -it currently has no representation in the Canary Islands, Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha, Navarra, La Rioja- and exponentially increasing the number of councilors.

The party also wants to distinguish between regional and municipal elections to focus messages on the powers of each institution. The motto for the town halls will be 'Take care of yours', while in the communities the chosen slogan is 'Vota Seguro'.

As he explains, it will be a campaign without "surprises" in which the formation will continue to defend its traditional axes: security, energy, education or public services. And he faces them as "the first great opportunity" to put a stop to the Government of Pedro Sánchez.

In the Community of Madrid, they assume that it is possible for the PP candidate, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, to obtain an absolute majority, although they take the growth of Vox for granted and believe that the result will depend on the presence or not of Podemos and the votes of the PSOE .

As for the post-electoral pacts, Abascal already said on Friday that his votes will not go "free" to the 'popular'. Vox starts with the idea of the Castilla y León model, which he believes is working "very well" and that he wants to reproduce in the rest of the institutions and become part of the governments.

However, he fears that the PP has different positions in each territory and is very cautious regarding the possibilities of an agreement; although he stresses that Vox will not allow the formation of "socialist and communist" governments.
