MADRID, 3 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, has defended the policies of the center against the rise of extremism "left and right" and has indicated that they must show that they have very clear ideas to face the changes of the real world.

In a joint press conference with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, the head of the European Executive has made a call to carry out policies that give results that provide confidence and security in a changing world.

Despite the fact that she has only been questioned by the rise of the extreme right in several European countries, including Spain, Von der Leyen has wanted to refer to both left and right extremism and has indicated that both fear change.

On the contrary, he has indicated that "the democratic groups of the center" have to demonstrate that they have "very clear" ideas to deal with issues such as climate change, as he has mentioned. In his opinion, they must have a vision of how to approach the difficulties presented by these transformations, but also know how to take advantage of the opportunities they offer.

In this sense, he has indicated that the forces of the center must demonstrate, for example, that they can grow and generate prosperity while reducing emissions and protecting nature and the environment.

In addition, in the context of the war in Ukraine, he has indicated that the centrist parties must show their confidence in the law and international law and their defense of the values of the United Nations Charter on the sovereignty or territorial integrity of countries.

We have to manage to apply policies with results and show that we have a vision to face the change and take advantage of the opportunities that it offers us", he summarized.

Von der Leyen has made these statements when asked if she is concerned about the growth of the extreme right and that this could put an end to the line set so far by the European Commission.

Sánchez, to whom the same question has also been directed, has preferred not to answer, alleging that it is a question with a derivative of national policy. Thus, he has indicated that he was going to avoid answering because he was at a press conference after the bilateral meeting of the College of Commissioners of the EU with his government.

Thus, he has indicated that there will be other occasions in the coming weeks to talk about this matter and set a position on the issue, he has settled.
