Ukraine reinforces positions on the banks of the Dnieper river, according to British Intelligence

MADRID, 14 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The banks of the Dnieper river, which separates the areas controlled by Russia and Ukraine, have been the scene in the last week of "small-scale" fighting between the two parties, according to the United Kingdom Intelligence services, which detects Ukrainian movements to try to establish new passageways on the eastern bank.

The British report, shared this Monday by the Ministry of Defense, detects an uptick in skirmishes that also extends to the estuary area, to control small islets.

The Ukrainian forces would be taking advantage of the rotation movements of the Russian troops, whose commanders also have the "dilemma" of determining whether to reinforce positions in this area or opt instead to redirect troops towards the main foci of the counteroffensive launched by Kiev, further east.

The Dnieper River has during the last few months geographically and symbolically marked the separation between the areas controlled by the two bands. In October 2022, Russian forces used it to evacuate positions in the city of Jerson, recaptured in November by Ukrainian authorities.
