Ukraine is behind a network of pro-Ukrainian saboteurs in Russia, according to US intelligence

MADRID, 5 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Ukraine has created a network of saboteurs operating in Russia, according to US intelligence sources, who suggest they were behind the drone attack on the Kremlin in early May, according to CNN.

In recent weeks, these types of attacks have intensified on Russian territory, such as the one directed in the vicinity of a residential neighborhood in Moscow, or an oil refinery located in the south of the country, although these same sources have not ventured to specify if they were launched from Russia or Ukraine.

From Washington they maintain that kyiv has been capable of organizing a network of saboteurs within Russia, made up of Russian citizens sympathetic to the Ukrainian cause and even disaffected by the Kremlin with important military training.

Ukraine would have used, according to these same sources, smuggling routes, taking advantage of the wide and difficult border to control to manage to cross the drones that have later been used in some of these attacks to the other side.

These are routes that have been used these ten years by Ukraine in its fight against pro-Russian forces in the east of the country. For these sources, these sabotages would help Russia allocate some of its capabilities to defend its territory, while kyiv prepares the counteroffensive.

The sources consulted by the aforementioned US chain have indicated that although the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, would have established a series of limitations on the Intelligence service, he might not be aware of all these maneuvers, for which his direct permission would not be required.
