UK sees "gradual but steady" progress in Ukraine's counter-offensive against Russia

MADRID, 25 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The British Ministry of Defense notes that Ukrainian forces have been making "gradual but steady" progress since the start of their counter-offensive against Russia in eastern and southern Ukraine about two weeks ago.

According to the latest assessment by British Military Intelligence, Ukrainian forces are currently operating in three main axes of combat on the eastern and southern fronts, where they have been carrying out "major offensive operations."

The Ministry of Defense also judges that the Ukrainian forces have learned from the first two weeks of counterattacks to "refine their tactics" for new assaults against "the deepest and most experienced defenses" of the Russian forces.

Thus, "Ukrainian units are making gradual but stable tactical progress in key areas" of their operations, according to the United Kingdom.

However, Russia has not stood idly by and British Intelligence has detected a "considerable effort" by Moscow in the Lugansk region, in the east of the country, to launch an attack in the Serebryanka forest, near Kremina.

This operation has ended with "small Russian advances" but Ukraine seems to have prevented the breach of its lines. Still, the Russian attack "probably reflects" that the Russian strategy in relation to this counteroffensive is to respond with new attacks "whenever possible."
