UK is training Ukrainian troops to disarm Russian bombs

MADRID, 22 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

UK Royal Navy divers are training Ukrainian troops to safely find and neutralize mines and other explosive devices with the main goal of resuming life in the country after the war ends.

British sailors are conducting the training at Loch Ewe in north-east Scotland alongside NATO allies including the United States, France, Belgium and Georgia, according to an official Royal Navy statement.

Training has ranged from clearing deep-sea shipping lanes to making shallow waters and beaches safe for amphibious raids. It has also covered the cleaning of ports, piers and any other infrastructure from possible threats.

"We have been able to strengthen relationships and come together as a single multinational force capable of finding and destroying underwater or maritime threats to the task force commander," said Delta 1 Diving Unit Officer in Charge Lieutenant Ali Aindow.

Aindow added that "the Ukrainian Navy divers have been great, it has been a brilliant opportunity to share experiences and learn techniques from each other."

"The Ukrainians are really focused and their enthusiasm for the training has been amazing," the lieutenant concluded.
