Two years have passed since the death of Philip of Edinburgh

   MADRID, 9 Abr. (CHANCE) -

A little less than a month before the coronation of King Carlos III is celebrated in style, this April 9 marks the two years since the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Felipe. "It is with deep regret that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her loving husband, HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. Further announcements will be made in due course. The Royal Family joins people around the world in mourning his loss," Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

A loss that caused deep sadness in Queen Elizabeth II, who was later seen at her funeral head down, wearing rigorous mourning and even emotional at certain times. An image that we rarely saw in the monarch.

After being discharged in mid-March 2021, on April 9 he died at Windsor Castle at the age of 99 after failing to overcome the health problems for which he had been admitted weeks before. Prince Felipe, consort, life partner and unconditional support of Queen Elizabeth II during her long reign, would have turned 100 in June 2021 and, with his death, left both the sovereign and the rest of the Family Real, plunged into the most absolute desolation.

The Duke of Edinburgh has been admitted to hospital several times over the past decade: in 2011 for a blocked artery, in 2012 for a bladder infection and in 2013 for an abdominal scan. He underwent hip surgery in 2018 and spent several days in hospital for a "pre-existing illness" at Christmas 2019. His last admission occurred in mid-February, for reasons of "precaution" given his already delicate state of health, before of the death of the longest-serving consort in the history of the British Royal Family.

Married for 73 years, the Queen of England and the Duke of Edinburgh had 4 children, Prince Charles, Andrew, Edward, and Princess Anne. Without a doubt, he was one of the best ambassadors for the Crown, which he represented until 96 years old, becoming one of the closest and most charismatic members of the British Royal Family. In addition, he was an inseparable part of all the events that have surrounded the British monarchy since the end of the Second World War.

The Duke of Edinburgh is credited with more than 20,000 official acts, including 250 visits abroad, which led Philip himself to describe himself as "the most experienced plate discoverer in the world", displaying humor that generated more than a headache to the point that British newspapers had sections specifically dedicated to publishing his lapses and outbursts.

One year later, Queen Elizabeth II died, on September 8, 2022. Since then, there have been several scandals in which the British Royal Family have been involved: from Harry's autobiography or his documentary with his wife , Meghan, until the alleged infidelity that the now Prince of Wales, William, would have committed to his wife, Kate Middleton.
