Trias (Junts) seeks a "strong government agreement" with ERC and the PSC in Barcelona

He sees "many irregularities" in the Borràs judicial process

BARCELONA, 2 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The mayor of Junts and winner of the municipal elections, Xavier Trias, has said that he wants to seek a "strong government agreement" with the ERC and the PSC (with 5 and 10 councilors respectively) for Barcelona City Council.

In an interview with the Ser chain this Friday collected by Europa Press, he stated: "I would be very, very, very surprised if there were people who were willing to do strange operations that do not make sense" in pacts for the investiture and governance of Barcelona .

On whether his pact with ERC and PSC should include both in the municipal government, he replied that it must be addressed, and added that up to now the conversations with the republican party "are very positive".

Regarding the talks with the Socialists, Trias believes that they will do so based on the result of the final count, which the Zone Electoral Board began this Friday.

On whether a hypothetical second position for BComú after the final count could "facilitate" an agreement for Trias with ERC and PSC, he has answered verbatim that he does not quite "understand" Collboni, because he does not know what he will do or what his chances are.

Faced with a possible left-wing tripartite PSC-BComú-ERC, he said: "I believe that ERC is not for this work", and he has literally insisted that he does not see that the circumstances that the candidate Jaume Collboni says can occur.

Trias has affirmed that the first "basic point" is to seek an agreement for the investiture, he has avoided assessing whether he would see himself as mayor with Ernest Maragall (ERC) as first lieutenant, and regarding the PP he has said that from day one they told him they would not support him.

Regarding the withdrawal of the seat in the Parliament to the suspended president of the Chamber, Laura Borràs, Trias has said that Junts will have to make decisions "as of Tuesday".

He has said that there have been "many irregularities" in the judicial process of Borràs and he believes that something that should have gone through administrative channels has ended up in criminal proceedings to see if it was harmed, according to him.
