The Court of First Instance and Instruction number 2 of Melilla has agreed this Wednesday to the entry into provisional prison, communicated and without bail of Mustafa Aberchán, the former president of the Autonomous City of Melilla between 1999 and 2000 and head of the Coalition for Melilla (CPM) since 1995.

As a judicial spokesperson informed Europa Press, the head of this court has also made the same decision for the former Councilor for Districts and Youth between 2019 and 2023, Mohamed Ahmed.

The two have been accused by the magistrate of the alleged commission of the alleged crimes of contracting fraud, embezzlement of public funds, prevarication and membership in a criminal organization.

Mustafa Aberchán and Mohamed Ahmed Al-lal join the imprisonments ordered by the same court on Tuesday night, specifically three former councilors of the Government of Melilla during the last legislature (Dunia Almansouri, Hassán Mohatar and Rachid Bussián) and a former deputy councilor (Yonaida Selam).

In addition to these six former officials of the previous coalition executive formed by CPM, PSOE and Eduardo de Castro (expelled from Ciudadanos) between 2019 and 2023, the former deputy councilor of the Mayor, Fatima Mohamed Kaddur (CPM), who has been arrested released with charges, and the former Minor's counselor, Cecilia González Casas (CPM), who was arrested this Wednesday and is awaiting the resolution adopted by the judge.

According to sources close to the case, Mustafa Aberchán has testified by videoconference from Santander, the city where he was carrying out a health activity in his capacity as a surgeon at the Regional Hospital of Melilla, and it is in this Cantabrian town where he will be admitted to prison. until his transfer to the Melilla Penitentiary Center.

In the case of the former District Councilor Mohamed Ahmed, he has also testified by videoconference from the peninsula, specifically from a court in Granada, where the head of the Investigative Court number 2 of Melilla ordered his entry into prison although in his case, having residence in the capital of the Alhambra, it is unknown if he will continue in the Granada prison or will also be transferred to the Melilla prison.

At this time, the Melilla Court is still taking statements from other detainees, including businessmen, contractors and intermediaries of the alleged irregularities committed in public contracts, as well as officials of the Autonomous City of Melilla.
