The vehicle that the president of the Provincial Council of Ourense, Manuel Baltar, was driving, the day it was intercepted at 215 km/h, was also captured on the same route of the A-52 motorway towards Madrid by a radar, when it was circulating at the height of the municipality of Allariz (Ourense).
According to the Cadena Ser Ourense, Baltar's car was hunted at 173 km/h at 5:44 p.m. in a 120 km/h section, photographed by a velolaser radar. The Civil Guard of Ourense, to questions from the media, has confirmed that the same vehicle was captured by radar that day, at kilometer 210, although it has not specified more details.
That week, the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) had a special speed control device deployed in Spain, with 2,838 points deployed throughout the geography, in which 792,338 vehicles were controlled. 5.7 percent of the controlled drivers were reported for driving at a speed higher than the permitted one, one tenth more than in the July 2022 campaign.
