The United Kingdom detects a "reconfiguration" of the Wagner Group after the cut in funds in Russia

MADRID, 13 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The UK Intelligence services consider that the Wagner Group, the mercenary network led by the Russian oligarch Yevgeni Prigozhin, has been forced to reduce its size and start a "reconfiguration" process after breaking away from the Kremlin.

"There is a real possibility that the Kremlin will no longer finance the group," British military intelligence has assessed, which places neighboring Belarus, where the mercenaries have moved after the rebellion launched by Prigozhin, as "the second most feasible payer" .

However, the magnitude of the Wagner Group would mean a "significant" outlay --"and potentially unwelcome"--, taking into account the "modest" resources available to Belarus compared to Russia.

Only after the revolt, launched in June, did Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly acknowledge that Wagner had received Russian funds, specifically more than $1 billion in the previous year.

Now, Prigozhin's goal would be to "save" the viability of a company under "financial pressure." Not surprisingly, since the mutiny, the Russian authorities have taken measures contrary to Prigozhin's business activities, according to the analysis shared by the British Ministry of Defense.
