The UN announces the arrival of a humanitarian convoy to the front line in Zaporizhia, Ukraine

MADRID, 30 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The UN announced on Wednesday the arrival of a humanitarian convoy made up of five trucks to the front line in the Ukrainian city of Guliaipolé, Zaporizhia, with a shipment of material for shelters, solar lamps, medicines and other medical and hygienic materials.

Some 3,000 people still live in the city, which is equivalent to a sixth of the population in February last year, according to United Nations data, and where the continuous bombardments have destroyed and damaged numerous houses.

In the last few days alone, at least twelve civilians have been reported killed or injured in attacks in both the east and southeast of the country, including Sloviansk, in the Donbas region.

The fighting and shelling have caused damage to houses, schools and hospitals on both sides of the front, such as the case of a Kherson hospital on Tuesday or a humanitarian facility hit by missiles on March 25.

This is the sixth interagency convoy that has arrived in the region since the beginning of the year. The first came at the end of January.
