The Senate Board rejects the attempt by the PSOE and its partners to stop the reform of the PP Regulations

The Senate Table, where the PP has an absolute majority, has rejected the alternative proposals presented this Wednesday by the PSOE and other parliamentary groups of the Senate after the meeting called in an extraordinary manner for the reform of the Regulation proposed by the 'popular' to delay the amnesty law.

After the presentation of the PP reform and its inclusion in the agenda of today's plenary session, the parliamentary groups had until 12:00 p.m. to present their alternative proposals. Given this situation, the groups of PSOE, ERC and Bildu, Junts, PNV and Sumar have submitted a written appeal for reconsideration to the table for non-compliance with the deadlines established in the Senate regulations.

Although it has not been the only one, since ERC and Bildu have also presented an alternative text to this proposal to try to "avoid partisan use of the legislative procedure." Furthermore, Vox, in another alternative proposal, has chosen to give the power to the Presidency of the Chamber to suspend the processing of bills that do not have mandatory reports, such as that of the amnesty law agreed between the PSOE and the pro-independence parties.

However, thanks to the absolute majority that the PP has in the Senate, the three documents have been rejected by the Board and the reform of the regulations will be taken into consideration and subsequently approved during the plenary session.

From there, the Regulations Commission will have to meet to open a period for amendments that will end next Monday and will subsequently be submitted to the Plenary for final approval, which will likely be next Tuesday, according to what parliamentary sources have told Europa Press. .

As the popular spokesman in the Senate, Javier Maroto, already explained this Tuesday, in the face of accusations of the unconstitutionality of the reform by the PSOE, "if there were obvious signs of unconstitutionality, the lawyers would not have allowed such a qualification" and "the Board would have has done is to scrupulously follow the procedures stated in our regulations," he concluded.

The objective of the 'popular' is to be able to process this reform 'expressly' to have it ready before the eventual approval of the amnesty law in Congress.
