The retired policeman entrenched in Alzira kills his ex-wife and takes his own life

The retired policeman who was entrenched since Wednesday morning in Alzira (Valencia) has allegedly killed his ex-wife, whom he had held for hours in the garage of his home, and has taken his own life, as confirmed to Europe Press police sources.

As reported by the Higher Police Headquarters, National Police agents have found the lifeless bodies of the man and the woman, inside the Alzira home, where the man had been entrenched since this morning.

The Homicide group of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade of Valencia has taken charge of the investigation to fully clarify the facts.

According to the family's version, she, Raquel, had gone to the house this Wednesday with a son - the result of another relationship - to collect clothes and belongings that she needed since the couple had separated after 12 years of marriage.

Throughout the day, agents of the National Police have maintained a police operation and have moved to the place members of the Special Operations Group (GOES) as well as the negotiating team of the Higher Headquarters, air resources and members of the Alzira Police Station since According to the Headquarters, the man could be armed.

The events occurred on Sagrada Familia de Alzira street, in a residential area. According to the family, the woman and her son had gone to the house to collect some belongings they needed when the ex-husband left her and took her to the garage, where he entrenched himself with her. Raquel's friends and relatives, including two of the victim's sisters, have been present in the vicinity of the place throughout the day. Some have arrived at 11:00 in the morning, precisely notified by the sisters, and there they have received the news of the crime, through tears.

According to municipal sources, shots were heard from the home, in a residential area of ​​the town, around 12:30 p.m.

One of the woman's sisters explained to the media in the middle of the afternoon that the agents had told them that they were waiting for him to come out and "to be able to rescue them both" who, according to what he said, were "fine". Subsequently, the Police took the sisters to another area, after police control, so that they could be with the children of the detainee and, shortly after, the outcome was reported.
