'Génova' defends investigating the links of Sánchez's wife but admits that he has not decided if he will summon her to the Senate commission

MADRID, 20 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PP will appeal the file of the complaint that it presented to the Conflict of Interest Office against the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, for not recusing himself from the meetings of the Council of Ministers that approved the rescue of the airline Air Europa, given the "links of an economic and professional nature" with that company of his wife, Begoña Gómez, according to party sources, who do not rule out going to the Supreme Court with this matter.

The first step that the formation of Alberto Núñez Feijóo is going to take is to request the complete file that the Conflict of Interest Office has been instructed to know what "inquiries they have made" and what documentation they have based on to decree that file, they added. sources of training.

"We will demand the delivery of the file instructed by the Office of Conflicts and Interests to verify if in that file there is something more than Bolaños' WhatsApp demanding that the matter be archived," the spokesperson for the Popular Group announced this Tuesday at a press conference in Congress, Miguel Tellado.

After PSOE spokesperson Esther Peña announced the decision of the Conflict of Interest Office on Monday, PP sources have indicated that the party received this Tuesday around 2:30 p.m. the notification of the file of its complaint, in which asked that the President of the Government be disqualified "between 5 and 10 years" for "not abstaining" from the rescue of Air Europa, a company that, according to the 'popular', "had ties of an economic and professional nature with his wife ".

Apart from presenting this appeal to the Conflict of Interest Office, PP sources do not rule out judicial avenues for Sánchez's "conflict of interest" to be investigated, given his wife's business dealings. Sources from the PP anticipate that if they take this step it would be before the Supreme Court, although they would have to analyze whether it is through contentious-administrative means or through criminal means.

From the leadership of the PP they assure that if the Government gave explanations about the links of Sánchez's wife with Air Europa "they would save problems, but they do not want to give them", have pointed out 'popular' sources, which have disgraced the Executive for not having "vocation for transparency" with this matter.

After Alberto Núñez Feijóo announced in the plenary session of Congress a "specific" parliamentary investigation "on the matters that affect his immediate environment," PP sources have indicated that they have yet to determine whether this investigation will be within the Senate investigation commission that promoted the PP, in another "extra commission" or even in the Congressional investigation commission.

In any case, the PP is clear that it is necessary to investigate the business of Pedro Sánchez's wife with Globalia, owner of Air Europa, coinciding with the negotiations for the rescue of the company by the Executive. "There are links in the Koldo case, the Delcy case and Air Europa," PP sources have pointed out.

In fact, a week ago, Feijóo himself already announced that they would request the reopening of the 'Delcy case' regarding the trip that the Vice President of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez made to Barajas on January 20, 2020 - a matter archived by the judge when considering that Nicolás Maduro's 'number two' did not set foot on Spanish soil-- because she understood that there is a "direct relationship" between the purchase of masks, the suitcases and the rescue of Air Europa.

The 'popular' want explanations about Begoña Gómez's visit to the Air Europa headquarters. In addition, they believe that "other meetings in Russia with Javier Hidalgo (the former CEO of Globalia) and Víctor de Aldama" should be clarified," sources from the group have added. Aldama, president of Zamora CF, was an advisor to Globalia and, according to the investigation, used his contacts with officials from the Ministry of Transport to do business with the transportation of masks.

In any case, sources from the PP leadership have indicated that it is not decided whether they will summon Sánchez's wife to appear in the investigative commission that the 'popular' have promoted in the Senate - where they have an absolute majority - on the called 'Koldo case', relating to the alleged bribery plot in the purchase of masks during the pandemic.

Other PP sources have rejected the possibility of summoning Begoña Gómez to the investigative commission and believe that they should focus on surrounding Pedro Sánchez in a case that, as they warn, "will have a judicial impact." "Our sphere of control is Sánchez. We must be careful with the relatives of politicians," they added.

Be that as it may, the Popular Party - which is involved in the so-called 'Koldo plot' - already anticipates that in the coming weeks "there will be more chapters of Pedro Sánchez's wife", as well as those involved in what The PP has already baptized the "PSOE case" regarding alleged bites in the purchase of masks.
