The management bodies of the CCOO and UGT give the final go-ahead to the pension reform

MADRID, 15 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The CCOO Confederal Council and the UGT Confederal Committee have unanimously given the final go-ahead this Wednesday to the second phase of the pension reform, for which reason it will be approved by the Government with the support of both unions, but without CEOE and Cepyme.

This was reported by the CCOO and the UGT, whose leaders, Unai Sordo and Pepe Álvarez, respectively, will appear together with the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá, starting at 1:30 p.m. today to explain this bipartite agreement that It puts the finishing touch to the different reforms in the pension system undertaken in this legislature and contemplated in the Spanish Recovery Plan.

This second leg of the pension reform will not have the support of CEOE and Cepyme, which did sign the first phase of the reform, in which the revaluation of pensions with the CPI was guaranteed.

During his speech at the UGT Confederal Committee, the union's general secretary, Pepe Álvarez, asked for a vote in favor of the reform, since it is a "historic agreement", which includes the UGT's demands regarding the Repeal of the labor and pension reforms of the PP.

"Not even the Government itself thought that we could go that far," Álvarez said during the event, and assured that the agreement "guarantees the pension system."

In addition, he highlighted the work "with discretion" of the Minister for Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá, who has obtained "the endorsement of the European Commission and that is not a minor issue."

"It has great political significance for the future of our country, it is an agreement that the indications we have is that it has a sufficient parliamentary majority so that it can be approved in the Cortes without anyone having to make a mistake, it seems that there is that parliamentary majority that supports him", he added, referring to the erroneous vote of the PP that served to approve the labor reform.

In addition, he has questioned the CEOE's criticism of the agreement, which it has not supported, and has insisted that "it is not a patch", as the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has affirmed.
