The King of Morocco grants pardon to more than 700 prisoners and convicts released on the occasion of Milad

MADRID, 28 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

This Wednesday, King Mohamed VI of Morocco granted pardon to 742 people on the occasion of the celebration of Milad (the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad), among whom there are prisoners and convicts who are free.

"On the occasion of this year's Milad (...) His Majesty King Mohamed VI (...) was pleased to grant his grace to a group of people convicted by different courts of the kingdom," reads a statement from the Ministry of Justice. published by the Moroccan News Agency (MAP).

Among the beneficiaries of this measure are 528 prisoners, of whom 22 will be pardoned, 503 will receive a remission of their sentence and three will have their life sentences commuted to a temporary one.

On the other hand, there are 214 people convicted but who are free, of which 50 will be pardoned, eight will have their prison sentence forgiven but the fine will remain, another nine will be pardoned from both the prison sentence and the fine, 146 will not have to pay their fines and another will have their prison sentence and fine commuted.
