The King meets with Zelensky after the announcement of new Spanish military aid to Ukraine

King Felipe VI held a meeting with the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, taking advantage of his attendance at the summit of the European Political Community (EPC) that was held this Thursday in Granada.

The meeting took place in the premises of the Alhambra and was attended, on the Spanish side, by both the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, and the head of the King's Household, Jaime Alfonsín. On the Ukrainian side, Zelensky has been accompanied by his Foreign Minister, Dimitro Kuleba, as seen in the photos of the meeting released by Zarzuela.

The meeting between Felipe VI and Zelensky follows the one held in the morning with the acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. During it, the head of the Executive has offered "new anti-aircraft and anti-drone systems" as well as specialized training in them to the Ukrainian military, in addition to new demining equipment, government sources have reported.

Specifically, Spain will supply Ukraine with another four Hawk missile launchers so that it can face possible bombings by Russia of "civilian targets, critical infrastructures and defend the new corridor for grain exports."

"Spain will continue to support Ukrainian capabilities to defend its cities, energy infrastructure and ports" to the extent of its possibilities, Moncloa has stressed.
