The confinement of Potries and Font d'en Carrós has been lifted due to the improvement in meteorology

The improvement in weather conditions last night in the area of the Montitxelvo forest fire (Valencia) has allowed the confinement of the municipalities of Potries and Font d'en Carrós to be lifted - it therefore remains in Ador - . Despite this decision, Emergencies have asked for "a lot of caution" when traveling through these areas.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Justice and the Interior, Elisa Núñez, to the affected mayors in a meeting she held with them early this Saturday morning to inform them of the current situation of the fire.

Núñez has reported that the current scenario "is not as adverse" as on Friday and that special work has been done on the right flank to prevent the advance of the flames towards the Vall de Gallinera. Efforts have also focused on the head of the fire bordering the town of Ador, which is the municipality "most affected" by the smoke.

The weather conditions during the night "have played in our favor", in fact, even "more than what the forecasts indicated", according to the councilor, since the relative humidity "has not been so low" and the winds have reached values " of lower intensity".

In any case, reconnaissance flights with thermal cameras have been scheduled for this Saturday to check the heat intensity of the fire and the hot spots. In this sense, Emergencies have pointed out that in fires with a lot of wind "areas are left unburned."

The Minister of Justice and the Interior will appear before the media at 1:00 p.m. to carry out a new monitoring and assessment of the extinction tasks.

The fire faces its third day with several "open fronts." The affected land remains at 2,580 burned hectares and a perimeter of 38 kilometers, the same as late Friday.

Regarding the evolution of the fire last night, according to Emergency information, the lower part of the fire remains "contained" and has not crossed the Serpis river or the province of Alicante.

Around 300 troops from different services and bodies remain working in the area and early in the morning the incorporation of five aerial means was planned, as long as the weather permitted. In addition, the Ministry has been requested to incorporate two FOCA aircraft and preventive work brigades, which joined at around 8:00 a.m.

Regarding the forecast, during this Saturday and Sunday the wind is expected to blow from the west, with "more intensity" in the central hours of the day, and will subside "somewhat" at night. Regarding the state of the roads, the Civil Guard reported early in the day that the CV-680 has been left open, while the road to Llacuna remains closed.
