The Church shows its "reserves" with surrogacy: "The woman is not an incubator"

MADRID, 30 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish bishops have expressed their "reservations" with surrogacy because women "are not incubators" and because "being a mother is not strictly speaking a right", although they understand the "pain" of women who cannot be mothers for different circumstances.

"The Church, understanding the pain of not being able to have children and the difficulties, raises its reservations on the subject. It is not to deny something to women, but it cannot be an incubator", has valued the general secretary of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (EEC), César García Magán, this Thursday, at a press conference after the meeting of the permanent commission.

In addition, regarding the specific case of the presenter Ana Obregón, who has been a mother by surrogacy in Miami, García Magán has assured that this girl "of course has the right to be baptized" just as "baptism is being administered to children of homosexual couples in the parishes". He has also defended that these children born by surrogacy must be given "all legal coverage."
