The CGPJ raises sentence reductions to 1,205 and releases to 121 due to the 'yes means yes law'

MADRID, 18 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) has updated the number of beneficiaries of the law of comprehensive guarantee of sexual freedom, known as 'the law of only yes is yes', and has raised the sentence reductions to 1,205 and the releases to 121. in application of the rule that came into force on October 7, 2022. The reductions represent 31.4% of the cases reviewed.

In a press release, collected by Europa Press, the governing body of the judges points out that the data as of September 1 was collected from the Supreme Court, the National Court, the superior courts of justice (TSJ) and the provincial courts. The data represents a slight increase in the number of reductions and releases, which on July 1 stood at 1,155 reductions and 117 releases.
