The Minister of Foreign Action, Meritxell Serret, has assured this Wednesday that she is reaffirming the political strategy that allowed her to return to Catalonia in March 2021, after having been on the run from justice since October 2017, as well as on the way to the negotiation to find a solution to the conflict between Catalonia and the rest of Spain.

"I reaffirm the legal strategy that allowed me to return and I am convinced of the political strategy that we are defending so that a conflict, which is political and with democratic realities, finds solutions in political negotiation and that are clearly democratic," she stressed in statements to the doors of the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), where he declares for alleged disobedience in the organization and celebration of 1-O.

The Minister of Foreign Action of the Generalitat was referring to the modification of the Penal Code agreed by the Government with ERC that has meant the suppression of the crime of sedition and a reduction in some penalties for the crimes of embezzlement of public funds.

Serret's words come after the former councilor and MEP of Junts Clara Ponsatí returned to Catalonia on Tuesday and criticized the strategy followed with the current councilor, who was part of the Government of Carles Puigdemont in 2017.

When asked about it, Serret has assured that she is very happy that Ponsatí has ​​been able to return, in addition to emphasizing that she respects the defense strategies "of each of the retaliated."

"We will always act with an attitude of full solidarity because we are confronting the same repression, a repressive State and a desire to criminalize the independence movement," he said.

Serret, unlike Clara Ponsatí, appeared before the Supreme Court when he returned to Spain in March 2021. He did so after having run in the February elections of that same year on the ERC lists and obtaining a seat in Parliament. . While the former Minister of Education with Puigdemont returned yesterday and she was arrested by the Mossos for not appearing before Justice.

Serret assures that he appears this Wednesday at the TSJC "with serenity and with a very clear conscience with the will to confront who is repressing the independence movement and who is articulating this strategy to criminalize a project that is legitimate", the independence movement.

"I did it when I appeared before the Supreme Court and I continue to do so before the TSJC", stressed the counselor, who has insisted that organizing a referendum is not a crime and that the solution to the conflict must go through politics and not through the courts .
