Sunak assures Zelensky that he will intensify his work with the G20 countries to export Ukrainian grain

MADRID, 8 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, assured during a phone call to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, that he will intensify his work with the G20 countries to circumvent the Russian blockade on Ukrainian grain exports through the Black Sea.

In that sense, Sunak has expressed his intention to ensure that the most vulnerable countries have access to "vital" cereal shipments, according to a statement from his office.

For his part, Zelensky has assured that the country is ready to continue exports through alternative means.

"Ukraine has already successfully demonstrated three times the possibility of exporting grain by an alternative route. We are ready to continue to do so. But to ensure the safety of navigation, we need the help of our partners, in particular, a significant strengthening of the system of air defense in the Odessa region," the Ukrainian president stressed.

In addition, Zelensky has informed the prime minister about the progress of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, praised by Sunak for its recent progress, and about the military needs of the Ukrainian Army.
